Q: Can I upload the avatar base to VRChat as a public avatar?
A: No. Please only upload as a non-cloneable private avatar to an account owned and used by only you.
Q: May I upload the avatar on my friends account?
A: You may only share or upload avatars with person who have bought the avatar base as well. All parties must own a license to use the avatar base.
Q: May I upload the avatar on my LEGAL spouse's account?
A: Yes, you may distribute to your spouse as long as you are legal married in your country. The terms of the avatar still apply to the spouse.
Q: Are the 2D stockings and clothes from Cat V1 supported on Cat V2?
A: Yes! You will need to creature the separate body textures in Substance Painter, Blender, or another texturing program. The body mesh in Unity has some b.Texturing_Stockings blendshapes near the bottom of the list to add in the dimple effect from V1. You will need to separate your own material swaps if you want in-game toggles for these legacy features.
Q: How do I get back the old Cat V1 look while getting the new Cat V2 clothing items?
A: Set the following using the in-game menu (or manually if using the Naked version)
Nose height max
Mouth width max
Forehead height max
Cat whiskers off
Cat nose off
Rough chin on
Flat lip off
Eyeballs off

The following must be changed before upload
Idle eyes are slightly more closed on V2. This is just an animation on the idle eyes. Please see advanced tutorial on the topic in the tutorial post.
The eyebrows on V2 are a little lower. In the extra face tracking blendshapes, make sure the eyebrow blendshapes are set to 0. Two of them are set to 42 by default.
Turn the blendshape on the body for lower feet. This lowers the feet into the ground like found on Cat V1.What can’t be changed back
Arms are slightly longer. This helps with full body tracking and the armature in general.
Joints are a little smoother in the knees and fingers.
Hands are a little smoother and deform better.
Neck is slightly more natural when collar is removed.
Q: Any known bugs?
A: The following are "bugs" that can't be fixed
Non-cat blendshapes and combining excessive customizing options may cause some clipping. This was minimized to the best extent possible, but not all combinations can be tested.
The demo avatar may not tail animations based on species until the facial expressions are changed (animator optimization - see commentary in tutorials for why).
Gesture swapping may have a ~0.1 second response time and gesture transitions do not interrupt each other. This hinders rapid gesture toggle, like open and closing the mouth/eyes quickly, but it is a result of animator optimization.
Q: Can the Cat/Catgen be used as VRM V-Tuber model?
A: Technically, yes. A few streamers have converted the model for their streams, However, the there are no VRM files include in the Gumroad downloads, so you would have to convert the model yourself. I am not familiar VRMs/V-tubing setups, so I can't provide assistance at this time.
Q: Why is the Catgen V1 texture VRAM at 300 MB (very poor) in VRChat?
A: This appear to be a bug in Unity/VRChat. The texture maps used for the Roomba and metal RoboticBody maps may not behave correctly. If you run into this bug, turn the texture size to 1K, turn off crunch compression, and set the compression quality to normal for these specific maps (found in Assets/Materials/Catgen_Armor1 - look for the black-white catgen maps and the Roomba textures).
Q: What versions of the software should I use?
A: Blender: 3.6+
Substance Painter 2022+
VRChat SDK 3.4+
Using older versions may not load correctly or cause broken files.
Q: How do I change the texture of CatV2_DEMO scene? It keeps showing up as the blue cat in VRChat.
A: The DEMO scene uses material swaps to show off all the species texture options. Please change the textures of the materials used for the species you want to edit. For most cases, this will be the blue cat (bubbles). Bubbles materials are found in Assets/Materials/V2_Material/V2_Bubbles.
