01 Download Unity for VRChat:
Follow VRChat's instructions to install the latest supported version of Unity. Only VRChat SDK 3.0 - Avatars is supported.

02 Uploading to VRChat (PCVR):
Create a new Unity project. Import the VRChat SDK. Import Poiyomi Toon Shader. Import Avatar's PCVR unity package - this step may take up to 10 minutes due to texture compression at import. Open included avatar scenes (pre-setup) in the Scenes folder under Assets. Upload via VRChat control panel.

03 Uploading to VRChat (Very Poor Quest):
The avatar is currently not optimized for Quest, and is not recommended for large lobbies of Quest users. Avatar will have to be manual set to "shown" in-game for other quest users to see the avatar. Uploading is the same as PCVR, except Poiyomi Toon Shader is not required. Import the Avatar's Very Poor Quest package. Make sure the build settings are set to Android. Upload via VRChat control panel.
04 Retexturing Your Own Design (four options):
- NOTE1: The Catgen avatar uses the same UV layout as the cat avatar except for the addition of a new material slot for the robotic parts. To upload a custom catgen, I recommend replacing the diffuse and emission textures of the pre-setup Raymond catgen. The Quest version toggles between the "PlainBlushOFF" and "PlainBlushON" body materials, so both need to be updated for custom designs to properly blush on Quest.
- NOTE2: The avatar was unwrapped with the chest toggle on, which may cause stretching in some designs around the chest and belly. It is recommended to texture the front chest/belly in a 3D application instead of Gimp/Photoshop.
- Substance Painter (2022):
  Download the "Texturing_SubstancePainter" file set. Use the substance painter file to retexture the Access, Body, Eyes, and Hair materials. The project is organized into masked folders with gradient filters. Change the gradient filters or add new fill layers in the folder to recolor the avatar. Project file includes extra masks for more customization. Swap out the mesh for one of the 3 to 4 included FBX files to paint tricky areas. Export to 8bit sRGB albedo and emissive textures for Unity. Recommended method for beginners. Software is available on Steam (one-time purchases), or as a trial on Adobe's website.
- Photoshop:
  2D export of the substance painter file set. Similar to the above except gradient filters are baked in.
- Gimp:
  Similar to Photoshop except gradient filters are not baked in. Uses flat colors and mixing options to colorize the gradient base instead. Tutorial below (no affiliation) outlines a method to colorize gray scale images. This method can be used to achieve results similar to Blender / Substance Painter (though slower).

- Blender Texture Tool:
  This tool allows you to customize the texture of your own avatar via slides in blend. Use the ColorRamp sliders and mask options for the four material slots to see your avatar to the desire colors. The "diffuse color" material preview is recommended for the best preview. Please use the 2K or 4K versions, as the 8K source version will lag any computer with less than RTX 3080 specifications. The 8K source file is intended for artist who need access to the full 32 float linear color space 8K gradients. Please see the hour long video below and provide any feedback on what is unclear. Please note that Substance Painter can achieve an identical result and is more beginner friendly (but not a free app).

VRChat Eye and Face tracking with Vive Pro Eye + Vive Facial Tracker + OSC app. Meant for experienced users with appropriate hardware. Unity package is in Cat Misc folder.
